Project Engineering, Design and Management

Led by a management team with more than 100 years of combined experience in the energy industry, MSS brings its expertise in project engineering and management to your metering or sub-metering projects.

MSS will manage the entire process to ensure the successful completion of the metering project’s goals and objectives, on-time and on-budget. This will include preparing the proper, stamped engineering drawings, arranging for Electrical Safety Authority (“ESA”) inspection (if required), installation of the meters and data collectors. Ensuring the connection between the meters and the data collectors (PLC, wired or wireless), programming and commissioning of the meters and data collectors and also all software implementation.

Metering Systems

With its partners, MSS can implement and manage the installation of a metering system. This will include preparing the proper, stamped engineering drawings, arranging for Electrical Safety Authority (“ESA”) inspection and the programming and commissioning of all meters. MSS is flexible in working with any metering technology the customer chooses, or we can recommend the solution that will best meet the customer’s needs.

Project Management

MSS can bring it’s project management experience to you by managing any metering or sub metering project you are considering. MSS can assist with the planning, organizing, and managing of resources to bring about the successful completion of metering project goals and objectives. MSS experience in project management runs the gamut from small complexes incorporatingMeM only a few metering points to enormous residential and commercial properties with hundreds of metering points.

Energy Management

Utilizing the capabilities and functionality of the industry leading EFT Energy Manager software, MSS provides a complete and flexible energy management service. This service can be as simple as providing basic reports on energy usage patterns to complete energy optimization solutions with recommendations on energy savings opportunities, energy retrofit projects and green energy options.

Meter Commissioning

MSS is also able to provide full meter commissioning services. Meter commissioning can be a challenging task to undertake, as a high level of detail and precision is required for the proper completion of the project. With MSSs experience, we can bring all the needed tools and personnel to complete the job efficiently and accurately. This also includes the capture of all the required customer and meter data to meet the client’s, Measurement Canada’s and any other regulatory requirements.

Accredited Measurement Canada Field Inspections

MSS offers a number of Measurement Canada accredited field inspections services. This includes being able to conduct the S-E-04 In-Situ installation verification required on all Multi-Customer Metering Systems (e.g. Quadlogic and Triacta multi-customer meters) within 1 year of installation. Also, MSS is in the process of becoming accredited for inspections on Single Point Instrument Transformer Meters.

Technical Support

MSS provides technical support services on multiple types of metering and related equipment either on behalf of the manufacturer or the client. MSS’s maintains a staff of trained technicians that are constantly updating their knowledge and expertise to ensure that they provide the best possible support to our customers. MSS is able to support any metering activity regardless less of size or complexity.

Consulting Services

With the extensive knowledge and experience of its principals and partners, MSS provides consulting on metering product/system design, energy management solutions, regulatory matters (i.e. OEB, Measurement Canada, etc...), the electric and gas utilities and the Smart Metering and Smart Grid industry.

Smart Meter (AMI) Support

Our labs and technicians are fully capable to supporting both the metering accuracy and the communication systems of the smart metering/AMI equipment. This includes wireless, hard-wired telephone, network and PLC.

Measurement Canada Approved Meter Testing and Sealing Services

Through it’s wholly owned subsidiary, the Accredited Meter Verifier EGW Inc. (“AMV”), MSS has the largest scope of meters it is accredited to seal and one of the longest running accreditations of any meter shop in Canada. For over 25 years we have been sealing and testing revenue billing meters, as well as providing meter verification services for meters delivered to the United States of America market.
